When most people think about the Ingham County Fair, they tend to smile but for different reasons! Some people love the rides, some love the expo performances, some love the food. The thing we love most of all are the 4-H displays and competitions! Listen Saturday at 9AM as Doctor Will Schultz. DVM (retired) and Lee Cohen spend time this week learning from Glenda Weiss, the 4-H coordinator and 3 of the kids who are entered in different 4-H competitions. First up is the youngest 4-H member in the studio, Helen Curtis, who is showing a Dairy Feeder. Helen started 4-H as a clover bud and has shown different animals over the years. She also has participated in other competitions like cooking and sewing. You will be amazed at her composure as she shares her enthusiasm toward 4-H. Next is Sophia Nielsen, 19, who also has been active starting as a clover bud (age 5-7) and is showing both Dairy Cows and Beef Steers. Learn how Sophia got involved with these animals and how she prepares the animals for the fair. Finally, Elanor Backhaus, 16 shares her story about Chickens which is what she is showing at the fair. She is also competing in other contests showing off her capability to draw pencil art and, like the others, has been active in 4-H since clover bud days! After you hear these three young ladies, you might understand why parents who were in 4-H love to get their children active in it as well!! It's worth your time to listen to this weekend's edition of the Mid Michigan Pet Expert Talk Show. Tune in on the radio on 1320 AM
