raveling with pets requires more preparation then you might be aware of. Listen Saturday at 9AM as Doctor Will Schultz, DVM (retired) and Lee Cohen discuss several areas of focus for your consideration before leaving Michigan with a pet. First up, Doctor Schultz will share some of the requirements and documentation you need to complete and have with you in case anything happens unexpectedly. The primary concern is there are health issues that don't exist in Michigan but do exist elsewhere. How do you avoid them and how do you teach your pets to avoid them? First up is Ben Shakespeare with Arizona Rattle Snake Aversion. Rattle snakes are in multiple states and Michigan dogs don't know them or the rattle sound. Ben teaches dogs to avoid them VERY quickly so even travelers can learn. Next up is Sally Babbitt. She was the idea person behind this show having gone camping in Florida with her Great Danes. One of them contracted a VERY rare disease and had to be put to sleep after returning. When you hear the story, you will understand why this is so important. Finally Sean Murphy returns. As a former reptile zookeeper at the Tampa Zoo, Sean gives advice on avoiding alligators and snakes in Southern states which can pounce on your pet faster then they can escape. In Michigan, we avoid ticks but in the rest of the country, much larger obstacles exist for your pets if you aren't prepared. Learn preparation by listening to this weekend's edition of the Mid Michigan Pet Expert Talk Show.
