We are approaching the time of year in Michigan when turtles begin to pop up in numerous places in the wild. You might see them in the woods and trails where they belong or you might find them in the parking lots, street and on the highway. Places they shouldn't be, but they are going anyway during their annual migration. Listen Saturday at 9AM as Doctor Will Schultz, DVM (retired) and Lee Cohen learn all about the ten species of Michigan turtles from one of the worlds leading turtle researchers, Doctor Fredric Janzen, Ph D. who works with the State of Michigan DNR, as well as Michigan State University. Fred is a wealth of information about the basics of why the migration takes place, what to do if you encounter them and how to protect yourself (carry a big stick) from the snapping variety. Learn about the predators that are eliminating generations of turtles from existing. Learn about fast turtles and why they sometimes get a bad rep when it comes to how slow they move until people see them. Doctor Janzen will bring you out of your shell with amazing stories and experiences that he will talk about this week on the Mid Michigan Pet Expert Talk Show.
