The snowy Thanksgiving weekend in Michigan varied based on geography. A few inches of snow in Lansing was stressful to many. It snowed over a foot in the Upper Peninsula! No big deal, especially if you have sled dogs! Listen Saturday at 9AM as Doctor Will Schultz, DVM (retired) and Lee Cohen learn all about sled dogs and sled dog racing in the Upper Peninsula. First up is Tasha Stielstra, owner of Nature's Kennel Sled Dog Adventures. Tasha will explain about the different breeds of sled dogs and their history. When did sled dog racing begin and how do the races work exactly? She will explain the UP 200 the Copper races and other events this winter. Or you can go for a sleigh ride yourself on a three hour tour! The Elizabeth Coons joins the conversation to explain about the dogs themselves. When, what and how much do they eat? How do they stay fit? When do they go potty while racing? Sled racing dogs are working dogs for most of their lives until they retire and are adopted as pets. Learn all about how to enjoy the winter and snow in Michigan by listening to this weekend's edition of the Mid Michigan Pet Expert Talk Show - 1320 WILS on the radio.
