Amy Sherman and John Gonzalez are the hosts of the award-winning statewide radio show and podcast "Behind the Mitten". After airing over 400 episodes from 2015 to 2019, BTM took a short hiatus and is excited to be back on the air again. The show focuses on travel, adventures, handcrafted food, and artisan beverages from around the state, sharing incredible Michigan stories around these topics. The duo was awarded “Special Show Broadcast Personality or Team” by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.
John is a multimedia journalist with more than 30 years of experience in covering entertainment, music, events, theatre, food, and beverages across Michigan. He is a graduate of Central Michigan University and is a member of their Journalism Hall of Fame. John is from the Thumb region, is a huge baseball fan, and can tell you the origin of Michigan food favorites like the olive burger or the wet burrito.
Amy has over 20 years of experience as a chef in the Grand Rapids area, cooking her way through restaurants and with her business Two Chicks and an Oven. She was the host of the statewide television series "The Great American Brew Trail", where she tasted her way across Michigan. Currently a freelance writer, she still focuses on beer and food. She is a graduate of Aquinas College, is a Downriver rat, loves craft beer, and will never turn down a good poutine.
